SECTION 1.
Sir,
Board of Trade to Foreign Office.—(Received March 17.)
Board of Trade, March 16, 1914.
I AM directed by the Board of Trade to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of the 13th March, transmitting copy of a telegram from His Majesty's agent and consul- general at Cairo on the subject of the proposed Egyptian legislation respecting hashish and the question of the adherence of the Egyptian Government to the Opium Convention,
The Board concur in Sir E. Grey's proposal to request Lord Kitchener to consider the possibility of dealing with the two questions separately, in the hope that the Egyptian Government may thus be enabled to adhere to the convention at an early date.
I am, &c.
GEO. J. STANLEY.
